Honesty at the heart of improving our Navy

The United States Navy, which prides itself on being the most pragmatic of the military services, needs to remain aware that the leadership and organizational structures that define it also breed protective sacred cows or truth-denying ideologies that ultimately threaten it. What's required in our United States Navy is honest, thorough, and ongoing self-criticism, which, after all, is at the heart of continuous improvement.
