Intelligence in the right hands

"Forty years ago this summer, I began my first tour as an Ensign in Vietnam in the Mobile Riverine Force. As a 24-year old Line Officer in the Mekong Delta, I learned then what I’ve been reminded of ever since: lives are saved, and America’s cause is advanced, when the right intelligence is in the right hands at the right time.

That is the enduring mission of our Intelligence Community, and the animating force of our professionals.

I look forward to working with you to meet the challenges before us. As before in World War II and the Cold War, so much depends on our success."

Sincerely,
J.M. McConnell
Director of National Intelligence
